 IRCTC, which stands for Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, is an Indian public sector enterprise that provides online ticketing, railway catering, and tourism services for the government-owned Indian Railways. Established in 1999 by the Ministry of Railways, it manages online ticket bookings, offers various tour packages, and handles catering services like selling drinking water on trains and at stations.

What is mentioned in the railway ticket?

A ticket provides us with important information such as the passenger's name, train/plane number and name, date of travel, coach and seat numbers, boarding and destination stations, fare information, and PNR (Passenger Name Record) number (in rail tickets). This ticket entitles us to travel and also serves as proof of payment.
